Thabile means ‘a place of happiness’ in Sotho, and is situated in the foothills of the Swartberg mountains in the Little Karoo.
The lodge has gone through a major transformation from humble beginnings, and is now a welcoming rustic retreat, with many special features including handmade basins, screeded floors, high ceilings and magnificent views from the cottages and verandahs.

The homestead was always open to friends and family worldwide and soon Len came to realise that most people enjoyed the experience of ‘farm life’. Thabile Lodge simply became a natural extension of his home… people will arrive as guests, but they will leave as friends.
The lodge’s quiet, farm atmosphere offers sanctuary from the glow and buzz of the city – the perfect oasis for balancing the mind, body and soul.
The African-style architecture unfolds within 600 hectares of native surroundings to create a welcoming environment in Oudtshoorn, South Africa.
